  • What is the symbolism of morganite?

Morganite is a stunning, pale coral-pink gemstone in the same family as emerald and aquamarine. It’s a relatively new gemstone in terms of human discovery, having first been found in the early 20th century. With its beautiful blush colour and exquisite clarity, morganite is a popular gemstone and one of the most-loved coloured stones for engagement rings – particularly in a rose gold setting to play up its colour. It’s also a suitably hard gemstone for engagement rings, with a Mohs scale rating of 7.5 – 8.

With its peachy-pink hue, morganite is thought to symbolise love, compassion, and joy, making it the perfect choice for a meaningful piece to wear yourself, a beautiful gift, or an engagement ring.

  • What is a pink sapphire?

The designer jewellery and engagement rings in our exclusive Sir Michael Hill collections feature a signature pink sapphire. While sapphires are usually associated with their deep blue variety, the gemstone naturally occurs in a rainbow of shades. Pink sapphires feature in a range of hues, from a light pink to deeper fuchsia colour. These gorgeous gems have the same hardness attributes common to sapphires. Sapphires are the second hardest gem on the Mohs scale, following diamonds, which makes them a popular choice for coloured engagement rings.

Sapphires are associated with wisdom, serenity, and focus. Pink and red gemstones are usually thought to symbolise love and passion, so a pink sapphire comes with beautiful meaning.
